Michael Borbridge
grew up in Orinda California. After seeing the Beatles perform twice live (once at the Cow Palace, and their last performance at Candlestick Park) he knew exactly what he wanted to do when he grew up. It looked so fun that his dream was to be a musician and to follow their footsteps.
Michael formed "The Sidewinders Featuring Freddie Roulette" and played local Bay Area venues. Much like John Mayall and the Blues Breakers, Michael incorporated and worked with many musicians under the same band name.
Some of those musicians who participated in this band are guitarist Tim Riordan, keyboarist Jeff Kent from his old band The Times, Harp player Will Scarlett from Hot Tuna, guitarist Hans Raag from the Naked Barbies, guitarist Michael Sisaki from Cold Blood, and guitarist David Vega from J.J. Malone & The Larry Graham band who was the bass player for Sly & The Family Stone.
Rounding off the SideWinders was bass player Patrick McKenna, whom Michael met during the blues jams sessions years back, as well as playing together in a trio with jazz guitarist Craig Graham. Plus the Sidewinders had many famous guests sit in on the shows.
Michael was involved with Balladyre featuring Freddie Roulette and NightFire featuring Harvey Mandel. He also had the pleasure to play and/or record with notable artist's like Harvey Mandel, Elvin Bishop, Henry Kaiser, Roy Rogers, Country Joe Mc Donald, Charlie Musselwhite, Mark Hummel, Luther Tucker, the Stu Blank Band, Norton Buffalo, Carlos Santana, Terry Haggerty, Pete Sears, Nick Gravenites, Barry Goldberg, Mercy Levy, Rick Kellogg, Rowan Brothers, Mic Gillette, Chris Cobb, and others.
Today, Michael continues to still work with Harvey Mandel. Michael's current band is called The Lost Legends featuring Freddie Roulette, Michael Warren, Eugene Huggins and Chris Planas. They recently finished recording their current demo at Snake Studios and Balladyre Productions.
