Michael grew up in Orinda California. After seeing the Beatles perform twice live (once at the Cow Palace, and their last performance at Candlestick Park) he knew exactly what he wanted to do when he grew up. It looked so fun that his dream was to be a musician and to follow in their footsteps.
Michael formed "The Sidewinders Featuring Freddie Roulette" and played local Bay Area venues. Much like John Mayall and the Blues Breakers, Michael incorporated and worked with many musicians under the same band name.
Some of those musicians who participated in this band are guitarist Tim Riordan, keyboards Jeff Kent from his old band The Times, Harp player Will Scarlett from Hot Tuna, guitarist Hans Raag from the Naked Barbies, guitarist Michael Sisaki from Cold Blood, and guitarist David Vega from J.J. Malone & The Larry Graham band who was the bass player for Sly & The Family Stone.
Rounding off the Sidewinders was bass player Patrick McKenna, whom Michael met during the blues jams sessions years back, as well as playing together in a trio with jazz guitarist Craig Graham. Plus the Sidewinders had many famous guests sit in on the shows.
Michael was involved with NightFire featuring Harvey Mandel / Freddie Roulette. Michael has also been a bandleader for Country Joe McDonald, and has played, produced, and recorded a number of projects involving Harvey Mandel, Kathi McDonald, Terry Hanck, Davey Pattison, Rich Kirch, David Freiberg, Elvin Bishop, Melvina Reynolds, Henry Kaiser, Roy Rogers, Charlie Musselwhite, Luther Tucker, Stu Blank Band, Norton Buffalo, Terry Haggerty, Pete Sears, Nick Gravenites, Barry Goldberg, Mercy Levy, Linda Imperial, Diana Mangano, Rick Kellogg, The Rowan Brothers, Mic Gillette, Chris Cobb, Ronnie Montrose, Curtis Lawson, David La Flamme, Michael Warren, Steve Evans, Mick Martin, Barry Melton, Eugene Huggins, Lisa Kindred, Michael Hinton, and many others.
10-30-05 Michael preformed a tribute for the late Chet Helms. The "Chet Helms Tribal Stomp" happened at Speedway Meadows in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. I played with "Country Joe & Friends" -- Michael Borbridge (drums), Michael Warren (bass), Michael Hinton (guitar), Freddie Roulette (lap steel guitar), Raymond Victor (keyboards), Jay Russio (background vocals), Pete Sears (accordion), Stacy (banjo), and David Freiberg, Linda Imperial and Diana Mangano (additional background vocals).
1-18-2006 Michael performed at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley, CA.
